Eddie Van Halen died yesterday! As is usual with me, it was a shock to hear of the death of an immortal legend; I realize that the legend wasn't immortal after all! This happens to me time after time (link below).

I will always remember him with his charming but mischievous smile as captured by photographer, Alan Light (photo above).

One of the most stunning moments in music must have been on August 27, 1986, at New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum when he performed his 13 minute guitar solo of Eruption (link below)! It is considered one of the greatest guitar solos of all time; he played the guitar with his two-handed tapping technique.

His fantastic guitar work was a valuable contribution to Beat It on the 1982 Thriller album by Michael Jackson and is what made the song so dynamic!
