The Art of Clouds ~ Tessier Wine Reception

 Story

Arnaud Tessier took over the Meursault family domaine in 2006 at the age of 22 years due to his father’s sudden death. The vineyards work was not new to him, as he started working in the domaine together with his father since he was 14 years old. Since the very beginning, Arnaud realized the great potential of the array of 7.5 hactares of stunning vineyards he got under his hands, which are spread over some of Meursault’s finest appellations. Like many young winemakers of his generation, his philosophy is that the majority of the wine making process is done in the vineyards. The viticulture is organic, and yields are controlled by removal of excess flower buds during the flowering season. It’s hard to find Arnaud while visiting the domaine – as he spends most of the time working in the vineyards. And indeed, Tessier’s vineyards are famous for their status due to the extreme amount of works invested in them. To complement the Tessier’s team, he is helped at the domaine by his wife Catherine, who brought to the domaine her own experience and skils, result of working for other important domaines both in Burgundy and abroad. Arnaud has a clear vision of his wines, and the results are pure, exotic and elegant wines, which are easily recognized as great examples of their respective terroirs. The quality of the wines improve year after year, and Tessier’s wines are already considered amongst the finest of the appelation. As this is a small domaine, Arnaud invest in new equipment little by little. Over the last few years new press and fermenting tanks where installed, and more modern equipment will be purchased over the next few years. This is another great example of the young generation shift over the last decade in many Burgundy domaines.

From fleeting formations to dramatic skies, clouds take center stage in The Art of Clouds, a group exhibition featuring photography, painting, mixed media, and installation by a dynamic range of Bay Area artists.

Clouds have long inspired artists as symbols of impermanence, wonder, and the imagination. The Art of Clouds brings this timeless subject into contemporary focus, offering interpretations that are atmospheric, conceptual, and deeply personal.  Featured works include striking skyscapes captured through the lens, textured paintings that blur realism and abstraction, mixed-media pieces that echo the layered nature of clouds, and an installation that allow visitors to physically engage with the sky's shifting moods.

Ginny Parsons in the Summer Salon @ the Gray Loft Gallery

  ~

Ginny Parsons - Cousins On Beach

Ginny Parsons is showing her latest work in the Gray Loft Gallery Summer Salon. Sometimes she uses some pretty off-the-wall material in it, literally; dirt, food, mustard, etc. In the last show I saw she used peanut butter! She also uses traditional medium, acrylic, oil, bees wax, etc. In this new work she uses powdered milk.

ABOUT  GRAY  LOFT  GALLERY
Gray Loft Gallery has promoted the rich art culture of Jingletown and the greater Bay Area for 11 years. The gallery has been referred to as a hidden gem in Jingletown, and noted by the late Kenneth Baker, former SF Chronicle Art Critic, in his Visual Arts Don’t Miss Column as “…A space gaining prominence in the Bay Area…”   The mission of the gallery is to provide exhibition opportunities for artists in a setting that is an alternative to the traditional gallery model. We hope to inspire, engage and celebrate artists in our community and beyond.  We acknowledge the achievements of emerging, mid-career and established artists – with an emphasis on those who live and work in the Bay Area – in a non-traditional art space. A number of artists began their art career at Gray Loft Gallery. “I have always enjoyed this gallery, superb atmosphere and lighting. The polished and worn hardwood floors creek slightly in places as you climb to the third floor, providing a granular and unique, organic aesthetic. This is a do-not-miss venue in the East Bay.”  –  Facebook ReviewGray Loft Gallery has received "Best Art Gallery" in the Oakland Magazine's Readers Choice Award in 2016, 2017, 2021 and voted one of five top art galleries in 2022.
