Last night the exhibition, Shades of Gray, opened at the Gray Loft Gallery in the Jingletown section of Oakland.
The guests were greeted at the door by a beautiful floral display and a photograph by Steve Napoli, who, as have I, switched to digital photography with no regrets. His was one of the images sold that night.

In Shades of Gray, his first exhibition, Vince Thomas showed his stark and ethereal image, Abandoned Dune, and, in a change in another direction, his brilliantly delightful, Indigo Tree 1.

Also showing in Shades of Gray is nationally renown photographer of animals, and in particular dogs, Ellen Shershow.

Another image that sold last night was the amazing shot, Armenia, by Candice Jacobus who captures street life around the world.

Shades of Gray was curated by Jan Watten, founder of Gray Loft Gallery, and Ann Jastrab, executive director of Center for Photographic Art. Unfortunately, due to illness Ann was not able to attend. Everyone wished her a speedy recovery.
