~
Tom White has been working on a new series he has titled, Drawn & Quartered (link below). One part of this new series is what he calls, Summer Fireplace Screens. As they are composed of various materials, most of which are remnants of his previous work on paper ripped up, cut up and reassembled in new configurations, they can't be used in front of a roaring fire, thus, they are meant to be used in front of a fireplace not in use. More photos of these screens below.
There are several of these "fireplace screens" in an exhibition at the K Gallery in the Rhythmix Cultural Works in Alameda. The exhibition entitled, Drawn, Quartered, Repurposed, also features the work of Ginny Parsons, who gallery-sat last weekend (link below). This weekend, Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 1 to 3 PM, it will be Tom's turn to gallery-sit.
Ginny is presenting her Bike series on one side of the gallery . . .

As with many of the new works that Tom White is doing, some of the fireplace screens are two-sided, a case in point are Self-Portrait and Greek Music Tempo 2007-2022, both below.

Drawn, Quartered, Repurposed is a two for one experience that makes for a pretty dynamic exhibition. Leave it to the Rhythmix Cultural Works to set up a doozy of a show like this!
So, remember, Tom will be at at the K Gallery, Saturday, October 15, from 1 to 3 PM.
