Diana Rigg ~ A Virtuoso Actress

Dame Enid Diana Elizabeth Rigg DBE died a few days ago; she was 82 years old. The range of her acting abilities on stage and film was phenomenal; she appeared in the very deepest, darkest Shakespeare to the delightfully whimsical Muppets! She said "I did it for my daughter, who was passionately in love with Miss Piggy. She was about 5 or 6, and she came to the studio with a couple of friends to meet Miss Piggy, and she burst into tears when she saw Miss Piggy!"

Rigg was the love interested of the British Spy in my favorite Bond film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service (link below), and even managed to marry the bounder in the end but . . . well, I won't spoil it.

I suppose her most famous role was as Emma Peel, the partner of John Steed (Patrick Macnee) in the British 1960s adventure television series The Avengers.
