The satellite exhibition, Art of the African Diaspora, opened tonight at the Gray Loft Gallery in Jingletown. The main part of the exhibition is at the Richmond Art Center (links below).
The art in the exhibition is varied and vibrant to say the least; the mediums include photography, painting, sculpture, pastels and mixed media (Gray Loft link below).
I
got a chance to talk to Kevin Curry for a few minutes. He told me
he had studied African masks as well as the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright
and the result is a blending of the two in his art. The second he told
me this I thought to myself, "Of course, it's so obvious!" It's just one
of the many surprises to be found in the exhibition.
