A new exhibition opened at the Gray Loft Gallery last night. Well, actually, it was the second half of an exhibition. It was under the auspices of the California Society of Printmakers and is titled, PRINTS: CA, LA and Beyond Part II. The show was juried by: Michelle Murillo, Co-Chair Printmaking Program, California College of the Arts.

The show is made up of 2-D work, with one exception, a sculptural piece by Katherine Venturelli, titled, Universe at Play. It is described as, "Intaglio on Canson Edition; artist book; Turkish map fold structure." It is a real knock-out.

There was some very interesting work in the show and many striking pieces caught my eye. There was an installation by Laurel Prieto, Maybe We Are Safe Here (detail) 2013. It is a screen print "wall painting" on cut paper and hand-stitched fabric, thread, pine boxes, nails, ink on acetate.
