Today is the birthday of
Barbara Eden who was born in
Tucson, Arizona, on August 23, 1931. She is an American film, stage and television actress, and singer, best known for her starring role of "Jeannie" in the sitcom
I Dream of Jeannie. From September 18, 1965, to May 26, 1970, Eden played a beautiful
genie set free from her bottle by
astronaut and
United States Air Force Captain (later
Major) Anthony "Tony" Nelson, played by
Larry Hagman.

Then there is
Bend It! This is my favorite song on the album! It was written by
Alan Blaikley and
Ken Howard. The tune was first recorded and released by a
British pop/
rock group,
Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich in September of 1966. It starts
lento then quickly goes
vivace, back and forth, similar to the song,
Zorba's Dance by Greek composter
Mikis Theodorakis. There is a great video on YouTube with Eden singing and dancing to the song (
link below). It's a lot of fun to watch!
