Mission District burning in the aftermath of the San Francisco Earthquake of 1906
One hundred and twenty years ago today, at 5:12 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, the San Andreas Fault slipped and San Francisco was rocked by an Earthquake that would be remembered as one of the worst and deadliest earthquakes in the history of the United States. The photo above is near the site of where my studio of almost 30 years would be located sixty-four years later.
Eighty-three years later, I experienced the second largest Earthquake in the city, the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. Although the first happened before I was born, both impacted my life.
