I just heard on the news that Gump's is closing today. Gump's is a luxury American home furnishings and home décor retailer, founded in 1861 in San Francisco, California by Abraham Livingston Gump in the 1930's.
The present location is at 135 Post Street but my memories are of going into the old location of the store before it was relocated across the street. The rich look of the old wooden floors and wood framed showcases are still vivid in my mind. The store was an art installation itself.
