One of the workhorses in my audio studio when I had my production company was the TEAC Tascam 122 professional cassette
recorder. What a dream this recorder was during the hayday of the
cassette tape. It was rack mountable but I never utilized it that way in
my studio (link below).

TEAC Corporation (ティアック株式会社 Tiakku Kabushiki-gaisha) (pronounced "Tee-ack") is an electronics company based in Japan. TEAC was founded in 1953 as the Tokyo Electro Acoustic Company.
The casette tape was released by Philips, a Dutch multinational technology company headquartered in Amsterdam, in 1963. Philips was founded in Eindhoven in 1891, by Gerard Philips and his father Frederik. It was once one of the largest electronic conglomerates in the world.
The Compact Audio Cassette (CAC) or Musicassette (MC), also commonly called the cassette tape or simply tape or cassette, is an analog magnetic tape recording format for audio recording and playback. The casette has been developed in Hasselt, Belgium.
Compact cassettes come in two forms, either already containing content
as a prerecorded cassette, or as a fully recordable "blank" cassette.
Both forms are reversible by the user (e.g. side 1, side 2).

The TEAC RC-70 remote control unit worked for the Tascam 122 cassette recorder as well as the reel-to-reel TEAC A-3300 which will be a subject for another article.
