Today, Monday, January 15, is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Friends of Sausal Creek and the Jingletown Arts & Business Community (JABC) celebrated the holiday by holding a workday to clean up and tend to the
Jingletown Native Plant Garden and the Jingletown Art Wall. The cleanup was from 9 a.m. to noon.
Day of Service
Legislation was signed in 1983 creating a federal holiday marking the birthday of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Taking place each year on the third Monday in January, the MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service – a "day on, not a day off."
