The current Berkeley Art Museum building was built in 1970 and designed by Mario Ciampi. It was deemed seismically unsafe in 1997 and a new building was constructed to house the vast art collection.
Yesterday was the Winter Solstice and what better time for an ending and a beginning? The BAM closed last night with a grand celebration befitting it's 44 years of art, performance and grandeur.
