El Papa en Barcelona una vez más en 2026

La Sagrada Família - 2026

For the last few days, Pope Leo XIV was in Barcelona to celebrate the finishing construction of the final tower of the basilica, the Jesus Christ, and to honor the death of its architect Antoni Gaud who died 100 years ago. It brings back all the memories of when Tom and I were in Barcelona and the Pope (a different one) was there to consecrate the Basilica during a time of protests against the Church (link below).

Antoni Gaudí, dubbed “God’s architect,” designed the Sagrada Família and was put on the path to sainthood by Leo’s predecessor, Pope Francis. Gaudí was a Catalan architect and designer from Spain, widely known as the greatest exponent of Catalan Modernisme. Gaudí's works have a sui generis style, with most located in Barcelona, including his magnum opus, the Sagrada Família church.
