Fifty-four years ago today, on Mar 6, 1970, the first and only record album, Lies, by Charles Manson, was released. Yes, believe it or not, Manson actually made a record. He supposedly made it to pay for his legal expenses.
Charles Manson is primarily known for his involvement in the 1969 Tate/LaBianca murders in Los Angeles, California. I remember reading about them and was pretty concerned as I had some hippy associations at the time and the scene was starting to get a bit freaky by then and anything was possible.
A
few years later I found this album in a basement somewhere; I didn't
pay much for it but I bought it out of curiosity; I did that a lot. I
sold it a few years ago for a couple of hundred dollars to a kind of
scary looking guy that would have fit right in as a member of the Manson Family (who else would have bought it).
The music was not all that great with the exception of Mechanical Man and possibly, Garbage Dump (YouTube links below).
There were tons of rotten albums from that period so, that's ok, but I
have the photos of the album, so, I figured why not post them.
There
was a poster that came with it but somehow, I neglected to photograph
it. A big oversight on my part! I hate when I do stuff like that.
Charles Manson died on Sunday, November 19, 2017. He was 83 years old and had spent over half his life in prison.
